Three major indicators of China's shipbuilding industry in 2014

According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as of December 2014, the national shipbuilding completion volume was 39.05 million DWT, a year-on-year decrease of 13.9%. Among them, the sea-going vessel was revised to 14.28 million tons; the new ship order volume was 59.95 million DWT, a year-on-year decrease of 14.2%, of which the sea vessel was 19.34 million revised gross tons. As of the end of December, the order volume of hand-held ships was 148.9 million DWT, an increase of 13.7% compared with the hand-held orders at the end of 2013, of which seagoing ships were 46.4 million revised gross tons, and export ships accounted for 95.9% of the total.


In 2014, the market share of China's three major shipbuilding indicators continued to lead the world. Shipbuilding completion, new orders, and hand-held orders accounted for 41.7%, 50.5% and 47.1% of the world market share, respectively, of which new orders were received. It is 2.6 percentage points higher than 2013.


The industrial concentration has been further improved. The top 10 enterprises in the country have completed 50.6% of shipbuilding completions, up 3.2 percentage points from 2013. The new ship orders continue to be concentrated in advantageous enterprises. The top 10 enterprises accounted for 55.5% of the total orders.
